SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Baby boomers are leaving the Sioux Falls city workforce at a record pace this year.

Human Resources Director Bill O’Toole says it provides an opportunity to join an effort that makes a difference in the community.  He says the goal is to have a city workforce that mirrors the cultural diversity in Sioux Falls.

O’Toole expects 70 plus retirements this year.  He says the City is on of the top ten largest employers in Sioux Falls with almost 1,160 full-time employees in a dozen departments.

He says the high number of retirements is credited with the pension reform that happened last year.
