SIOUX FALL, S.D. (KELO AM) - Metro Communications, the 9-1-1 call center for Sioux Falls and Minnehaha County, is hiring dispatchers.
Operations Manager Jen Disburg says the job is rewarding but stressful. Metro operators dispatch 3 law enforcement agencies, 14 fire departments and 5 ambulance services. She says services are delivered with strict policies and guidelines.
Disburg says the hourly salary starts at $17,36. Disburg says 9-1-1 is 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so the job is shift work, weekends and holidays.
Successful candidates take an intensive, five month, paid, on-the-job training program. Applications are available at www.911metro.org and the closing date is April 24.
