SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Sioux Falls National Weather Service and surrounding Emergency Management offices are offering a severe weather awareness training session tonight.
Forecaster Todd Heitkamp says the session will review weather safety procedures. He says after experiencing the session you'll never look at clouds the same again.
Heitkamp says the class will review storm spotting fundamentals and how to report severe weather observations. He says it can lead to becoming a storm spotter for the weather service.
The session will also look back at historic spring and summer weather events that have grabbed headlines in our regio.
The program is part of severe weather awareness week in South Dakota. It's free and starts at 7 p.m. at the Washington Pavilion.
