Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) – Eight entrepreneurial teams have been selected to take part in this year’s Accelerator program at the South Dakota Technology Business Center. These entrepreneurs will spend the next five months preparing to grow their South Dakota businesses and pitch to investors. The companies competitively selected to participate in the 2014 Accelerator are: AMI (Antimicrobial Materials) Inc.; Credentialing USA, LLC; Picki; ODIN Hunting Products, Inc.; The Weston Group; SPACT (Security Printing and Anti-Counterfeit Technology); 7400 Circuits; and Global Thinking Laboratories. The SDTBC Accelerator launches with a three day intensive boot camp, May 14 -16, followed by a series of monthly, one-day sessions to help entrepreneurs refine their business concept and model, focus on sales growth, and scale their businesses. “These companies are learning how to be successful from some of the region’s top experts in entrepreneurship, sales, finance, intellectual property, business law and more,” says Pam Boehm, the center’s entrepreneurship and incubation manager. “We are excited to be working with these entrepreneurs and the more than 20 subject matter experts sharing their time and talents to further entrepreneurship in South Dakota.” Along with the opportunity to learn from, and connect with, great resources, these accelerator companies have the opportunity to pitch for project based funds made available through a FAST grant awarded by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. They learn the process to pitch for funding and have the ability to earn 2 grants of $5000 each to move their business forward. The 2014 Accelerator is sponsored by Forward Sioux Falls.
