SIOUX FALLS, S. D. (KELO AM) -  Part of Governor Duagaard’s current trade mission to China is to promote South Dakota’s secondary education opportunities.

South Dakota State Univerity's Kathleen Fairfax is with the Governor and says China has more students than places in the Universities.

Fairfax says the Chinese are also aware of South Dakota's cutting edge research.  She cites engineering at the School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City and dairy and animal husbandry at S-D-S-U.

Fairfax says with a large population China has high tech needs for the future.

She says low tuition rates and a low crime rate make South Dakota attractive to foreign students.

Daugaard and the delegation of educators and businessmen will return at the end of the week.
