Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM): Friday afternoon officers responded to the 100 block of N Covell Avenue to check on female who was believed to be in distress. Upon arrival, they had contact with a female who said she was having problems with her boyfriend. The female told officers that her boyfriend went upstairs, where he had access to a gun. When officers heard a male yell threats from upstairs, they immediately escorted the female out of the home. Attempted phone contact with the male was unsuccessful, so the Emergency Response Team was called out. Phone contact was eventually made with the barricaded male, and he walked outside. He was taken into custody at 3:42 p.m. without further incident.
Investigation revealed that the female had been assaulted during the day and confined in the home against her will. The male was identified as Daniel Armstrong, a 35 year-old resident of Sioux Falls. He was lodged in the Minnehaha County Jail for Aggravated Assault, Kidnapping, outstanding warrants, and other charges.
