SIOUX FALLS, S.D. kELO AM) - Senator John Thune says Republicans are doing everything they can to stop the Environmental Protection Agency’s  proposal requiring existing power plants to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Thune says they’re going to have to convince some Democrats to side with them.  He desribes the situation as a simple math problem.

Thune says the regulations would increase electricity prices in South Dakota by as much as 10%.

He says even the EPA predicts natural gas prices would increase by over 11% resulting in higher costs for fertilizer and manufacturing in South Dakota.
