SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - “Run for Their Lives,” a fundraiser combating Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, is this Saturday at Sertoma Park.
Organizer Sara VanLaeken says the run benefits “Lach’s Legacy,” created by David and Brianne Edwards whose son Lachlan died unexpectedly at daycare.
VanLaeken says the Edwards took Lachlan to their daycare provider in Sioux Falls in 2008 and she put the baby down for a nap and he didn't wake up. Lachlan was 101/2 months old.
The Edwards established "Lach's Legacy" in support of the CJ Foundation for SIDS, a national nonprofit organization.
Proceeds from the run/walk support grieving families and promotes SIDS awareness and research. VanLaeken says you can register for the run/walk on the "Lach's Legacy" website or you can join in Saturday morning at 9:30 at Sertoma Park in Sioux Falls.
The cause of SIDS is unknown.
