Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM)---Downtown Sioux Falls, Inc. (DTSF) is pleased to announce their second accepted applicant, who will enroll in the new Retail Incubator Program.A League of Your Own is a retail store that will sell men’s women’s and children’s officially contracted professional licensed merchandise for the National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA), National Hockey League (NHL) and the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR).
The store will occupy the former Artisan House Galleries space at 229 S Phillips Avenue. They are projected to open in September 2014. DTSF will subsidize the store's rent for the first 18 months open, as well as provide business training and mentorship.The store will be owned and operated by Kathryn Macziewski, who studied sports merchandising in Minnesota and Oregon before landing a job in merchandising with the Minnesota Vikings. Macziewski, a Sioux Falls native, also worked at Scheels All Sports as their Pro License Department Manager.
Nancy Savage, owner of Child’s Play Toys, will serve as Macziewski’s business mentor. “DTSF is excited to be working with such a unique concept that is currently underserved in the downtown retail market,” said Jason Dennison, DTSF President. “We are thrilled to be able to offer sports merchandise and Kathryn’s experience in retail and sports merchandise management, along with her business plan, makes her business a perfect fit for this program.”
The program is offered through DTSF’s Business Retention & Recruitment Committee, who reviews each application and makes recommendations to the DTSF Board. Interested parties must submit an application, a comprehensive retail business plan, and agree to the terms and conditions of the program.
