Lincoln County Emergency Manager Harold Timmerman gave some good advice this morning on the Greg Belfrage Show. "If you don't have to travel in Lincoln County; DON'T."
"Every town in Northern Lincoln County has been affected with the massive rainfall," said Timmerman. "We have sewage backup, people with a lot of water in their basements and county roads closed. Highway 18 coming from the West is no open, but you can't go East of Canton."
As of 5pm Tuesday, Timmerman said that most of the major roads in the county were open, but that many other roads were still at least partially flooded.
The Emergency Management is getting an assessment from each city to determine what their most immediate needs are.
Timmerman advised people not to drive through standing water. It's hard to determine if the road has been undercut by the water which poses great danger.
A volunteer center is going to be extablished in Canton to match people who want to help with those who need help.
