PIERRE, S.D.  (KELO AM) – Officials with the State Departments of Transportation and Public Safety have announced that I-29 south of Sioux Falls is open for travel effective immediately.  Interstate 90 near Luverne, Minnesota, has also been re-opened.

Officials also caution travelers that S.D. Highway 46 is overtopped at the Iowa state line. S.D. Highway 19A between Centerville and S.D. Highway 19 is overtopped and traffic is being controlled with flaggers.

S.D. Highway 11 is closed to traffic south of Brandon and north of Madison Street.

U.S. Highway 18 is closed to traffic from I-29 to the Vermillion River on the west side of Davis.

S.D. Highway 46 is closed just east of S.D. Highway 19/19A near Centerville.

Officials will evaluate conditions of the roadways and re-open roads as water recedes, and debris has been removed to allow safe travel.

Although I-29  is open, motorists are urged to travel with caution and to visit safetravelusa.com/SD or to call 511 to check latest road conditions in their area.
