SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Police say a 13-year-old boy charged in a fatal, car-motorcycle accident last Sunday in Sioux Falls was driving his grandfather’s car without permission.

Officer Sam Clemens says police said 37-year-old Jason Rollings’ injuries were not considered life-threatening after the crash.

Clemens says officers go to the hospital with accident victims and talk with doctors about the patient's condition.  He says the medical releases are not the officer's hunch, they're the opinion of medical staff.

Rollings developed complications and died Tuesday night and the boy is charged with reckless driving and no license.

The boy turned his vehicle into to the path of Rolling's motorcycle Sunday and Clemens says Rollings suffered a compound fracture to a leg.
