PIERRE, S.D. (KELO-AM) – Interstates Companies, an electrical design, construction and control systems firm with headquarters in Sioux Center, Iowa, announced today that it will be relocating and expanding its Sioux Falls, S.D., operations. The expansion is expected to create 59 jobs in the Sioux Falls area over a five-year period. The company has purchased space located at 4701 W. Research Drive, formerly occupied by DocuTAP. Interstates expects to be moved from their 6009 South Sharon location in the fall of 2014. “It is great to see an existing South Dakota company create more technical jobs in our state,” said Gov. Dennis Daugaard. “One of the big draws for the company was the ability to hire skilled electrical and computer engineers in the Sioux Falls area. Companies are coming here because we can provide the necessary technical workforce.” “Interstates Companies is excited for the opportunity to expand our Sioux Falls operations,” says Jack Woelber, president, Interstates Control Systems, Inc. “We have had an office in Sioux Falls since early 2000 and have experienced continued growth. We have enjoyed success in recruiting skilled team members as Sioux Falls is an attractive community that offers many amenities and opportunities for young families. Expanding our space will allow Interstates to continue our growth and provide additional opportunities for our employees. We anticipate adding over 50 jobs in the next 5 years. These positions will include highly technical positions in the fields of electrical engineering, computer programming, information technology and control system design.” “The Development Foundation is thrilled to assist Interstates’ growth through the sale of our Research Drive building. They create technical and engineering job opportunities for our residents and add to the mix of services available to Sioux Falls’ industrial companies,” said Slater Barr, president, Sioux Falls Development Foundation. The South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development provided low interest financing to assist with the company’s expansion in South Dakota.
