Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - With the 4th of July being one of the busiest travel holidays on the calendar, the South Dakota Department of Public Safety reminds motorists that safe travel should be a top priority. Highway Patrol Col. Craig Price says “I have three tips for drivers this weekend: Don’t drive drunk, obey the speed limits and wear your seat-belt.”
Highway Patrol officers will not only be stepping up sobriety checkpoints, Price says they’ll be tightly enforcing all motor vehicle laws, including the new texting while driving ban.
AAA South Dakota will once again be offering the tipsy tow program in the Sioux Falls area. Anyone can call tipsy tow at 1-800-AAA-HELP and a reprehensive from AAA will come and provide a safe ride home for you and your vehicle within 15 miles of the pickup point. In addition to Sioux Falls, the free service is also offered in Mitchell, Yankton, and Rapid City.
