SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls police handed out thirty-one citations for red light violations during last week’s increased enforcement.
Officer Sam Clemens says the extra patrols worked the morning and evening rush hours on Minnesota and Cliff Avenues and West 12th and East 10th Streets.
Clemens says the patrols are paid by grants from the Office of Highway Safety. He says most of the extra enforcement centers on speeders and seat belt violators. But, he says officers have been a lot of complaints from the public on red light runners so that was the emphasis last week>
Clemens says a red light violation carries a one-hundred-and-nineteen dollar fine.
