Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - Sertoma Avenue at 41st Street is now open to traffic. As part of the 41st Street reconstruction project from Ellis Road to Sertoma Avenue, this intersection has been widened to allow for two lanes of through traffic and turning lanes.
The opening of this intersection is ahead of plan schedule. D&G Concrete Construction is the prime contractor and will receive an incentive payment of $98,000 for completing the intersection 21 days early.
West of Sertoma Avenue, 41st Street remains closed, but the project continues on schedule. Traffic using 41st Street will be detoured along Ellis Road, 26th Street, and Sertoma Avenue. Access to local businesses along 41st Street west of Sertoma Avenue has been maintained. As work continues around the intersection, traffic control devices will be in place. Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
The 41st Street reconstruction project is anticipated to be substantially complete by late November 2014.
