SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Blood donations traditionally drop in the summer months because of vacations, reunions, celebrations; activities that take advantage of warm weather.

Community Blood Bank Executive Director Ken Versteeg says Saturday's “Hog Wild” blood drive is critical for area hospitals.

Versteeg says blood donations lag in the summer but the demand never slows and can increase this time year.

The first 200 donors will receive a commemorative t-shirt and a 2 liter bottle of Coke.  Great food will be provided by Camille's Sidewalk Cafe and the South Dakota Pork Producers.

The “Hog Wild” blood drive is Saturday, July 26th, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 41st Street and Minnesota Avenue, in the Lewis Drug Parking lot
