SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls planners says the city’s population today is estimated at 166,700.
Director of Planning and Building Services Mike Cooper says employment and population track together. He says the South Dakota Department of Labor shows an increase of 1,800 workers in the Sioux Falls area between June of 2013 and June of this year.
Cooper says Sioux Falls population has grown by 2,300 people annually for the last six years. Sioux Falls has shown consistent, steady growth at close to 1.6% a year.
Four years ago, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated Sioux Falls population was declining in population, but the figures have since rebounded
