SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls police say there are two teams of crooks using stolen credit cards at local businesses and stole $66,000 in cash and merchandise this month.

Captain Blaine Larson says the credit cards are stolen in larger cities and the suspects will ask local clerks to swipe cards until one is good.  Larson says in one instance the crooks asked the clerk to swipe 8 cards until one registered.

He says most people cancel their cards once their stolen, but if enough cards are taken only one good one is needed to make purchases or buy money cards.

Larson says swiping so many cards should be a red flag to clerks who can look at names on the cards or ask for identification

Larson says the teams also hit stores in Flandreau and Madison.  The teams are still at large.
