Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Sioux Falls City Council will be asked to hire a special planner to help make South Dakota's largest city more bicycle and pedestrian friendly.
President of the Falls Area Bicyclists, Chris Parsley, says the multi-mobile planner would help make sure that future roads and street improvements take into account the needs of walkers and bikers. He says Minneapolis-St. Paul has 19 such planners, making it one of the most bicycle-friendly areas in the country.
Parsley believes the root problem is too many distracted drivers. He says people must learn that " it's just not them out there, but them and everybody else".
This new focus in Sioux Falls comes after the death of a young mother on her bicycle hit by a car last month.
