Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - Thunderstorms rolled through the Sioux Falls area early Sunday morning leaving downed trees and power lines behind. Winds of 60 mph were reported with the storms.
Xcel Energy is reporting that power outages affecting approximately 5,200 customers were reported in Sioux Falls and Harrisburg. Power lines were downed at several places, a car and home damaged by falling trees and some manhole covers floated away due to the rapid rainfall.
Traffic lights were reported out at several locations, causing city crews to respond.
Sioux Falls officially received 0.82 inches of rain Sunday morning, bringing the weekend total so far to 1.83 inches. Forecaster Tim Masters at the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says they're watching the conditions ahead for the week, which includes even more potential for rain on already water logged areas.
