SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Police cited the 70-year-old driver that hit a tandem bike on North Marion Road last month sending both cyclists to the hospital.
Officer Sam Clemens says Melvin Coelho was cited for careless driving and overtaking. Clemens says motorists have to pass bicyclists at a safe distance to the left providing for three feet of seperation. 71-year-old Harald Vik of Norway, who is blind and deaf, suffered a broken pelvis and his interpreter 40-year-old Torben Loekaas suffered minor injuries.
Alcohol or drugs were not involved in the accident.
