SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in America according to the Arthritis Foundation.
Executive Director of the Foundation in the Dakotas, Vickie Goodwin, says some medications cost thousands of dollars a month. Goodwin says many insurere won't pay for the medications so there’s a bill in Congress to help both adult and child sufferers.
Godwin says the bill was written by the Foundation and she met with U.S Representative Kristi Noem last week to ask her to co-sponsor and introduce the measure
Goodwin says there’s no specialized arthritis physician to treat children in the Dakotas so they have to travel to Minnesota, Kansas City or Denver for treatment.
