Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Turning the "bloody cheek" is just not acceptable says Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether.
Mayor Huether hosted an unusual news conference on Wednesday, crowded with community groups, to challenge the city to do more to fight domestic violence, bullying and prejudice. He says victims may believe they can't talk to anyone, but they can and they should.
A recent assault at a local bar in Sioux Falls was just one instance that Mayor Huether mentioned - where a man was punched when he asked another person to stop using slurs against homosexuals.
The Mayor encouraged citizens, schools, families, law enforcement agencies, churches, nonprofits, and others to do even more.
