Sioux Falls, SD — The City of Sioux Falls and SMG are implementing parking and traffic control measures for this Friday night’s sold-out grand opening concert at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, featuring Jason Aldean with Florida Georgia Line and Tyler Farr.
“The most important message we can communicate to ticket holders is to plan to arrive early,” says Terry Torkildson, General Manager of the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. “More than 10,000 people will arrive within about a 60-minute timeframe, and the earlier you can get here, the better your chances are of being in your seat when the concert starts.”
In addition to the free parking available in five lots at the PREMIER Center, parking also is available at several city parks, with free shuttle service before and after the concert. Park-and-ride shuttle service will begin at 6 p.m. and will be located at:
- Elmwood Golf Course at Russell and Kiwanis Ave.
- Burnside Park at Burnside and West Ave.
- West Terrace Park west of Covell Lake on Madison
Additional parking also is available at Earl McCart Fields located a few blocks south of the PREMIER Center, allowing people to walk to the venue.
“Adequate parking is available for everyone attending this large event, especially to the south and to the east of the PREMIER Center,” says Mike Cooper, Director of Planning and Building Services for the City of Sioux Falls. “Attendees may need to walk just a few blocks, but parking will be available for everyone.”
Traffic control measures include controlling traffic lights at key intersections and directing drivers to follow pre-determined roadway paths as they leave the concert. After the event, traffic on Western Avenue will be limited to exiting event traffic and shuttles only.
“When you leave the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, traffic control staff will direct you out of the parking lots to increase the speed in which you are able to get home,” adds Cooper.
Once inside the PREMIER Center, ticket holders should expect lines. All guests will be subject to search, including purses and bags, upon entering the facility.
“This grand opening concert is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and our goal is to enhance the safety of all attendees, as well as to ensure each person has a great time,” says Torkildson.
