SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The legendary Pomp Room bar was just east of the downtown Sioux Falls Library where a city parking ramp now stands.
One-time performer at the Pomp, and amateur filmmaker, Jesse Yost is producing a documentary focusing on stories from the infamous watering hole.
Yost remembers it was better to walk into the Pomp at night when shadows would conceal some the bar's warts. He says the smells were ever present, calls the bathrooms legendary and says the pool table was slightly warped but people loved to shoot stick on it all the time.
Yost says there’s a gathering Saturday night at The District for anyone with pictures, videos and stories of the Pomp. He says four bands including the Cartwrights, Glory Holes, Jerkstore and Wakefield will play.
