Sioux Falls, S.D. (KELO AM) - Last night the Sioux Falls Police Department responded to a traffic accident at 26 St. and Cliff Ave. Upon arrival, the officers found two people with injuries. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and Rural Metro Ambulance responded to the collision.
The investigation revealed that a 1994 GMC Sierra was northbound on Cliff Ave., approaching 26 St. A 1998 Nissan Maxima was westbound on 26 St., and failed to yield to the northbound GMC Sierra. The Nissan Maxima had a flashing red light, and the GMC Sierra had a flashing yellow light. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.
Both drivers were transported to local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Nissan Maxima was arrested for DUI, driving suspended, failure to obey flashing red light, and no seat belt.
The driver of the GMC Sierra was cited for driving suspended and failure to maintain financial responsibility.
