SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A Sioux Falls policeman fired several rounds at a man he believed was pointing a handgun at him last night near the top of the sledding hill at Tuthill Park.
Officer Sam Clemens says the suspect fled on foot and police have not yet found him.
The officer was on patrol and encountered the suspect when he came up behind the officer who was in his patrol car.
Clemens says the officer gave the suspect some commands, which the suspect ignored, and the officer saw him draw a handgun. The officer drew his 9 mm Glock and fired at the suspect.
The officer was not injured and it’s unknown if the suspect, who fled, was injured.
Emergency response teams from the police department and the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office searched the park this morning..
