Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) South Dakota's senior U.S. Senator John Thune appeared on the FOX NEWS SUNDAY show with host Chris Wallace this morning. Thune says the Republican majority this session will focus on getting legislation that was stalled out in the house through to the Senate chambers for voting. He was asked by Wallace about several other issues, including funding of the transportation bill, how funding for the Department of Homeland Security will be handled and the Keystone XL pipeline project. Thune stated the "power of the purse" will be critical when Congress deals with potential executive powers exercised by the Obama Administration. Thune is set to chair the powerful Senate Commerce Committee when the session gets underway.
