SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Election workers won a meager pay raise today from the Minnehaha County Commission.
County Auditor Bob Litz says it’s harder to find poll workers and Commissioner Gerald Beninga says most put in twelve hours of public service.
Precinct superintendents will make $140 a day and deputies $125 a day. That's $10 more a day.
Meanwhile...the County Commission today re-elected Cindy Heiberger as Chairperson for the year.
Commissioner Dick Kelly objected saying Jeff Barth should be chairman followed by Kelly. He said the commission doesn't want to return to the days of one commissioner weilding power over the rest of the body.
Heiberger kept the chair on a three-to-one vote. Kelly was the lone dissenter.
