SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Time is ticking for South Dakota legislators to decide how long to keep increasing the gas tax by two cents.
Mark Lee with the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce says the House version is two cents for three years and the Senate version is two cents for eight years.
Lee says the conventional wisdom in Sioux Falls is that the tax will fall somewhere in the middle, maybe four or five years.
Lee says a House bill increases license fees by 20% while the Senate measure is a 10% increase.
The funds are for road and bridge repair.
