BERESFORD, SD (KELO AM) – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says two projects on Highway 46 through Beresford started earlier this week.

Work includes complete reconstruction of Highway 46 through Beresford and a city project to replace utilities at the same time.

Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction with a 10-foot width restriction on the south half of the project. Once complete, construction will commence on the north half.

Motorists are advised there will be a detour the week of April 27 for replacement of the railroad crossing. The detour route will be signed for through traffic and local traffic will be allowed up to the closed area.

The prime contractor on this $3.4 million project is T&R Contracting, Inc. of Sioux Falls. The utility contract is $1.1 million.

The roadway is expected to be fully open to traffic on Nov. 25. The overall completion date for this project is June 15, 2016.
