Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) There is little disagreement on major issues among the three candidates running in the Sioux Falls School Board election April 14th.
Incumbents Kate Parker and Todd Thoelke and newcomer, Randy Dobberpuhl all support the Common Core standards in Math and English currently in the schools.
All three support higher pay for city teachers. Parker and Thoelke think a small increase in the state sales tax only during the summer months to fund higher salaries would be a good start.
Parker and Thoelke both support keeping the school start date where it is, using the current school calendar. Dobberpuhl favors a middle ground - somewhere between the current calendar and a start date after Labor Day.
The three candidates are fighting for the two positions up for grabs April 14th. The voters will also decide the school start date debate.
