SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Better Business Bureau is alerting Sioux Falls residents about door-to-door solicitors asking for cash to pay for care packages to service members overseas.
Jessie Schmidt says the Bureau can’t contact Patriot Packing Sales to determine how much, if any, of the money goes to service members.
Schmidt says the contact number for the company has an area code for Minneapolis but BBB has been unable to contact the company. BBB is concerned the that much of the money may be siphoned to wages and other expenses and not to help U.S. troops.
Schmidt says the company doesn’t have a city peddler’s license and is not a non-profit.
The Lincoln County Sherriff’s office is also warning residents of a scam in that area. A caller claiming to be Sargent Bradly tells residents that they must send him a pre-loaded debit card or he will arrest them.
The Sherriff’s office says they have received several complaints of the scam; it’s unclear if anyone has fallen for it. If you receive such a call, hang up immediately.
