SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) -  Governor Daugaard says South Dakota’s poultry losses due to bird flu number two million.

Daugaard says over a million birds at Dakota Layers in Flandreau will be euthanized.

Daugaard says USDA has a program that pay an indemnity to the poultry owners for the birds that are euthanized as well as all costs associated with that process and cleaning.

The Midwest price of a dozen large eggs rose to $1.88 or $.58 higher than a month ago. Eggs used for mayo, ice cream and other products are even higher.
