SIOUX FALLS (KELO AM) - Women looking to learn more about the great outdoors should check out the annual Women’s Try It Day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. CDT on Sat., June 27, 2015, at the Outdoor Campus in Sioux Falls.
Participants will have the opportunity to sample a variety of outdoor activities, ranging from Outdoor Campus staples like kayaking, archery, shooting and outdoor cooking to more offbeat activities like making survival bracelets and glamping (or “glamorous camping”).
“It’s a great chance for women of all ages to get outside and enjoy nature, and maybe even to find a love for something that they would never have thought to try otherwise,” said Thea Miller Ryan, director of the Sioux Falls Outdoor Campus. “It’s also a fun day for us here at the campus because we get to experiment with creative and new ideas like glamorous camping in addition to our usual programs.”
“More than anything, though, it’s for mothers and daughters, girlfriends and ladies interested in a fun weekend outing and to have it focused entirely for them,” Ryan said.
South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks’ Outdoor Campus is located at 4500 South Oxbow Ave. in Sertoma Park, Sioux Falls. Women’s Try It Day is free to the public and pre-registration is not required. For more information about the event, e-mail TOC@state.sd.us or visit www.facebook.com/outdoorcampus.
