Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) – Tuesday’s heatwave took a toll on some Sioux Falls roads. Portions of northbound and southbound Minnesota Avenue are temporarily reduced to one lane between West 57th Street and West 85th Street, effective immediately. Northbound Minnesota Avenue will be detoured westbound on West 77th Street and then northbound on Lyncrest Avenue to West 69th Street.

Eastbound 41st Street has also been affected and is reduced to one lane near Kuehn Park Road, 60th Street North will be reduced to one westbound lane over I-29, and Benson Road will have lane closures near St Paul Avenue.

The recent high temperatures have caused concrete expansion blowouts which the City of Sioux Falls will be working to repair as soon as possible. Temporary patches are anticipated to be in place by Tuesday evening.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
