Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Sioux Falls City Council has put the brakes on the Huether Administration's proposed steeply higher fees for the outdoor pools in town.
Council has postponed any decision pending more discussion. Fees in some cases could triple over the next three years.
Some councilers seem to support higher fees, but not as high as proposed in the new rate structure. Some councilers also are concerned that free passes for low income families would be eliminated.
City officials say the new rate structure would put Sioux Falls in line with other cities of comparable size in the region. They say without the higher fees, tax money that could otherwise go to more important things would have to be used for the city pools.
