Sioux Falls Police reaching out to the citizenry

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Police will hold four meetings with residents next week to improve communications over challenges in their neighborhoods.

Chief Doug Barthel says people who live in neighborhoods take ownership of them.

Barthel says police officers are just as committed as residents to the neighborhoods they patrol.  He says officers also take ownership in the neighborhood as though they lived there.               

The meetings will be held at the four Community Centers beginning next Tuesday.

The meetings will be held on the following dates:

  • ·         Southeast QuadrantTuesday, June 23, 2015, 5:30 to 7 p.m.Morningside Community Center, 2400 South Bahnson Avenue
  • ·         Southwest QuadrantWednesday, June 24, 2015, 5:30 to 7 p.m.Kuehn Community Center, 2801 South Valley View Road
  • ·         Northwest QuadrantThursday, June 25, 2015, 5:30 to 7 p.m.Oyate Community Center, 2421 West 15th Street
  • ·         Northeast QuadrantMonday, June 29, 2015, 5:30 to 7 p.m.Kenny Anderson Community Center, 3701 East Third Street
