SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO AM) – The South Dakota Department of Transportation says work will begin on the Highway 11 bridge over Split Rock Creek south of Brandon on Monday, June 22.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane and controlled with traffic signals at either end of the bridge. A concrete barrier will be in-place to separate traffic from the work zone limiting the width of the bridge to 12 feet. Over-width vehicles will need to find an alternate route and motorists can expect short delays.
Work on the bridge includes repairs to the concrete deck, removal of the old railing and installation of a new concrete bridge railing.
The project will also include some grading, shoulder widening and asphalt milling and overlay beginning in late July between the junction of highway 11 and 42 and Madison Street.
Loiseau Construction, Inc. of Flandreau is the prime contractor on this $2.5M project.
The overall completion date is Nov. 1.
