SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - It’s official: straight line winds caused the damage in yesterday’s early morning storm in Garretson.
Sioux Falls Meteorologist Todd Heitkamp says the winds reached speed of 100.
Heitkamp says whether the winds were rotating or coming from the same direction, damage is damage. He says just because the Officer determined that straight line winds were responsible for the destruction does not minimize the damage and the impact that will last for quite a while.
Heitkamp says the strongest winds did occur at Garretson.
