SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Minneapolis attorney representing same-sex couples in a lawsuit challenging South Dakota’s ban on gay marriage says he’s in disbelief over the Supreme Court’s ruling.
Josh Newville says he’ll be monitoring the state for full compliance.
Newville says if there is a single instance of noncompliance,in this opinion, that the state of South Dakota doesn't begin swiftly issuing marriage licenses to gay couples, "there will be a lawsuit."
State Attorney General Marty Jackley says the order should be treated as effective immediately, absent further direction from the Courts.
