Two State Prison Inmates Placed On Escape Status

Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM)  - Two state prison inmates from Sioux Falls have been placed on escape status.

Inmates Brandon Suess and Troy Chase were last seen this afternoon working on the grounds of the South Dakota State Penitentiary. They failed to return to the minimum-security unit for a count of inmates at 3:45 p.m.

Suess is a 29-year-old white male, 5-feet-6-inches tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Suess is currently serving an 8-year sentence for third-degree burglary and a consecutive 7-year sentence for grand theft. Both of the sentences are from Custer County.

Chase is a 32-year-old Hispanic male, 5-feet-5-inches tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds. He has black hair and hazel eyes. Chase is currently serving a 3-year sentence from Minnehaha County for forgery.

Anyone who sees either inmate or knows of their whereabouts should contact law enforcement immediately.

There are approximately 800 minimum-security inmates housed across the state, including more than 200 in Sioux Falls.
