Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - Downtown Sioux Falls, Inc. (DTSF) has accepted a fourth applicant into the Retail Incubator Program – WoodGrain Brewing Co., scheduled to open in August 2015.
DTSF will subsidize rent for the first 18 months open, as well as provide business training and mentorship. A business mentor will be named soon.
WoodGrain will be a fully functional, open style, microbrewery located at The Plaza, 101 S. Phillips Avenue. Other tenants in the building include DocuTap, Frontier Bank and Pappy’s The Original. Pappy’s will provide food service for microbrewery customers.
The microbrewery is co-owned and operated by Jason Currie-Olson, Steve Hartman and Ryan Van Tol. Currie-Olson has been a home brewer for the last decade and has taught several friends the process along the way.
"The growth and transformation of downtown Sioux Falls is incredible and we are so excited to be a part of continuing to grow that culture and atmosphere,” said Currie-Olson. “People talk about Omaha and Fargo, and how awesome those downtown neighborhoods are. It is time that people talk about downtown Sioux Falls the same way, and WoodGrain Brewing Co. can't wait to be a part of that."
WoodGrain will have seating for around 65 in The Plaza's shared lobby areas. In addition, the existing patio space will be expanded to the west. Patio access and seating will be available for a capacity of up to 40 on the patio.
WoodGrain Brewing Co's taproom includes 16 taps featuring 6 in-house made microbrews and 6 guest beers from regional breweries such as Fernson, Crow Peak, Wooden Legs, West O, Brau Bros, Bank, and Take 16. In addition to draft beers, a rotating selection of in-house made craft sodas and a variety of South Dakota craft wines will be served.
Mug Club and Founders Club memberships will be sold. T-shirts, growler-style glassware and growlers to-go, baseball caps, and smaller variety items such as stickers and coasters will also be available in the store. Visit woodgrainbrew.com to learn more.
