Road Work beginning this week in Sioux Falls

Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) – Here are the problem areas that could affect your commute times in Sioux Falls.

 

Road Closure – East Eighth Street

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015, East Eighth Street will be closed between North Mable Avenue and North Highland Avenue.

Bernhart Crane will be setting up a crane to preform work on Terry Redlin Elementary School.

The work is anticipated to be completed at noon on July 6, 2015.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

 

Sanitary Sewer Repairs – Eighth Street

Beginning on Monday, July 6, 2015, construction crews will be working on a sanitary sewer repair in the alley at Eighth Street between North Summit Avenue and North Duluth Avenue.

Eighth Street will be closed from North Duluth Avenue to North Summit Avenue and no through traffic in the ally at Eighth Street. The closure for the sanitary sewer repair is expected to be for one day with additional concrete and asphalt repair.

Work is expected to take five working days with favorable working conditions.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while traveling near the construction areas and may want to consider alternate routes.

 

ADA Curb Ramp Repairs -

Euclid Avenue from Sioux Street to 13th Street

Beginning on Monday, July 6, 2015, construction crews will be working on Euclid Avenue in the intersection of Sioux Street and 13th Street.

Work will consist of new sidewalk curb ramps with adjacent curb and gutter, a new valley gutter, and asphalt patching. Euclid Avenue will be closed to through traffic while Sioux Street and 13th Street will remain open at all times with traffic channeled around the work area when necessary. The sidewalk will be closed during construction.

Work is expected to take approximately two weeks with favorable weather conditions.

Lane Closure – North Cliff Avenue

Beginning on Tuesday morning, July 7, 2015, the outside southbound lane of North Cliff Avenue will be closed at East 60th Street North.

First Rate Excavate will be widening a driveway approach, which is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day on July 10, 2015.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

 

Street Closure – East Austin Street

Van Eps Avenue to Wayland Avenue

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, East Austin Street from Van Eps Avenue to Wayland Avenue will be closed to traffic. The street closure is to allow for sanitary sewer bypass pumping that is required for the construction of the Seventh Street from Sherman Avenue to Jessica Avenue Water Main Replacement Project.

Work related to the bypass pumping is anticipated to be completed by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015.

This project will be completed by mid-September 2015.

Lane Shift – South Western Avenue

Beginning on Tuesday morning, July 7, 2015, northbound traffic on South Western Avenue at West 37th Street will be shifted to the middle left turn lane. Southbound left turns and northbound right turns onto West 37th Street will be limited.

The City of Sioux Falls Street Department will be performing concrete sidewalk, curb, and valley gutter repairs.

Downtown Alley Closure -

Phillips Avenue and Main Avenue

Beginning on Tuesday morning, July 7, 2015, the north half of the alley between Phillips Avenue and Main Avenue from Tenth Street to 11th Street will be closed.

Engbarth Directional Drilling will be performing utility work which is anticipated to be complete by the end of the day on July 9, 2015.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

 

Street Repairs – 37th Street

Western Avenue and Lake Avenue

Beginning on Tuesday, July 7th, 2015, 37th Street between Western Avenue and Lake Avenue will be closed to through traffic for street repairs and sidewalk ramp installation.

Motorists should use 33rd Street or 41st Street as alternate routes. Local traffic will be maintained but will be limited periodically.

This work is expected to be completed in approximately three weeks.
