SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) -The Department of Commerce says goods exported from the Sioux Falls metro area totaled $455 million last year, an increase of over five percent from a year earlier.
Director of Commercial Service in Sioux Falls, Cinnamon King, says local companies realize 96 percent of the world’s population is overseas.
King says metro area goods exports exceeded $1.44 trillion dollars last year, up $36 billion from 2013 and accounting for almost 90% of total U.S goods exported last year. She says foriegn buyers have a high appreciation for U.S brand name products and services, and there's no better time than now to start exporting.
King says most of South Dakota’s manufactured items were exported to Canada and Mexico.
