SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Unlocked doors offer bad guys a crime of opportunity and Sioux Falls residents are still not getting the message.
Officer Sam Clemens says it takes seconds to open an unlocked car door and take a purse, wallet, cell phone or any item that can be pawned.
Clemens says if you leave your house unlocked, dayttime or nightime it doesn't matter, burglars will find an unlocked door. He says once inside they will take whatever they can carry in a quick getaway. Clemens says locking property can prevent most thefts and burglaries.
