SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - This weekend’s Peach Festival at Yankton Trail Park benefits a new South Dakota Special Olympics program for kids ages two to seven.
Special Olympics Executive Director Darryl Nordquist says competition programs are for eight and older.
Nordquist says the new, young athlete program teaches children how to play together. He says it also teaches kids cognitive skills and it brings the parents into the program as another integral part of the equation.
The second annual “Peach Festival” is Saturday and Sunday.
