Sioux Falls Construction and Utility Projects

Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - Here are this weeks road and utility projects that could have an effect on your commute:

 

Lane Closure – West 41st Street

Beginning on Monday, July 27, 2015, and continuing on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, the outside eastbound lane and adjacent sidewalk on West 41st Street will be closed between Norton Avenue and Duluth Avenue. The eastbound lane will close each morning and reopen at 4:00 p.m. Eastbound traffic will use the inside eastbound lane.

MidAmerican Energy will be performing utility work which is anticipated to be completed on July 28, 2015.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

 

Franklin Avenue Construction

Beginning on Monday, July 27, 2015, Franklin Avenue will be closed between Eighth Street and Tenth Street to allow construction crews to reconstruct the street. Work will include new water main, storm sewer, curb and gutter, sidewalk, asphalt pavement, and street lighting. Bike lanes will also be added to this segment of Franklin Avenue.

The far left lane of eastbound lane of 11th Street, just west of Franklin Avenue, will also be closed as part of this project.

Access to area businesses will be maintained at all times.

Franklin Avenue is expected to reopen to traffic in early October.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

 

85th Street Construction

Beginning on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, 85th Street between Audie Avenue and Minnesota Avenue will be reduced to one lane to allow construction crews to perform water main work. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic through the work area. Drivers should remain alert to changing road conditions and slowed or stopped traffic near the work zone. Traffic congestion is expected during the morning and evening commutes. 85th Street will be open to one lane of traffic in each direction overnight, but will be reduced to a single lane with flaggers during daylight hours.

This work is expected to be complete in approximately two days.

Minnesota Avenue Construction

Beginning on Monday, July 27, 2015, the outside southbound lane of Minnesota Avenue will be closed south of 29th Street to allow construction crews to perform concrete repairs. Northbound Minnesota Avenue traffic will not be affected by this work. Additional lane closures in this area will occur throughout the week. Drivers should remain alert to changing road conditions and slowed or stopped traffic near the work zone.

This work is expected to be complete in approximately five days.
