SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Minnehaha County’s provisional budget of almost $80 million for next year is almost $8 millions over the current budget.
Still, Commissioner Dick Kelly says it’s a good budget. But he also adds that it does not solve all of the county's problems. He says the county is going to have to get more and more active with the legislature to find additional sources of revenue or some balance in the allocations.
Part of the budget’s growth comes from a 2.4% increase in property taxes on new construction.
The County Highway Department’s budget increases almost $5.5 million.
A budget hearing is set for September first with adoption later that month.
